If you have an upcoming doctor's appointment, vacation planned, or if you're just taking an afternoon off, you can use our Custom Event and Vacation features to mark it on the calendar.

Custom Event

This option is typically used when you only need to book off a couple of hours. For example, a doctor's appointment.

Go to the Calendar tab and click the green + New Event button above the mini calendar on the right of the page.

The custom event type form will appear.

Enter the description of the event, the date and time the event starts and ends, any relevant notes, and assign it to the correct Anow user.

For this example "vet appointment" is the description, I need to be off on June 19th from 10:45am to 12pm, I've added a note saying the appointment is for an annual checkup, and I've assigned it to myself.

Click save when you're done and the event will now appear on the calendar. This is the Month view.

To see the full event details, click the appointment from the calendar and a slide out panel will appear.

Vacation

This option for blocking time off is mostly used when you're going to be unavailable for more than just a couple of hours. You can block off a morning, an afternoon, a full day or multiple days.

Go to the Calendar tab and click the palm tree icon above the mini calendar on the right of the page.

The vacation event type form will appear. You'll notice on this form that you block time off in morning and afternoon increments.

  • Morning: 12am to 11:59am

  • Afternoon: 12pm to 11:59pm

Enter the description of the event, the dates that event starts and ends, any relevant notes, and assign it to the correct Anow user.

Example #1 - Full days off

For this example I need to block time off for a long weekend I'm taking. I'm away starting the morning of June 26th and will be back to work the morning of June 29th, so in this case I need to set it up so that my event ends the afternoon before, June 28th.

Example #2 - Half day off

For this example I need to have just the afternoon of June 11th off. The date/time ranges are inclusive, so in this case I will need to start the event on June 11th in the afternoon and then enter the same information into the second date/time area.

Click save when you're done and the event will now appear on the calendar.

Anow Pro Tip: When booking off half days, use the Week or Day views on the calendar. This way you will clearly be able to see your time off.

Looking at the Week view, I can clearly see that I've booked off the afternoon of Thursday June 11th (12pm to 11:59pm).

To see the full event details, click the appointment from the calendar and a slide out panel will appear.
